What to Expect
Whether you’ve attended church your whole life or never stepped foot in one before, we know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time. You’re not quite sure what to expect. You probably have a lot of questions. We hope this information will help to answer your questions.
EXPECT TO BE WELCOMED
First Baptist Church is a growing family of believers and you are welcome to check us out. When you arrive, you will notice our facilities are comprised of two buildings. You will want to enter through the more modern looking building to the north. One of our greeters or ushers will immediately give you information regarding our nursery, adult services, kids and youth opportunities and be willing to help with any specific questions you may have.
EXPECT TO BE COMFORTABLE
Upon your arrival you will probably notice people dressed from more casual to old fashioned Sunday best. Don’t worry about it. How you dress for church is up to you and no one is concerned about it. Make your way to the sanctuary and enjoy the service. If you desire to have your children participate in ministries specifically for them, rest assured they will be in a place with appropriate supervision, people who will love them and teach them well, and where security measures are in place for their protection.
EXPECT TO WORSHIP
The music at First Baptist Church will usually be a mix of hymns and choruses with a choir and/or special music of some type. It will be uplifting, glorifying to the Lord and what is commonly referred to today as traditional in style. Its goals are to worship God and encourage the heart of the worshipper. Its purpose is not entertainment.
EXPECT TO HEAR FROM THE WORD OF GOD
The messages of our church are all Bible based. It is our purpose to declare the Word of God with boldness and compassion, with accuracy and application, and in a way that keeps the attention of the hearer with the goal of them knowing how to live out scriptural principle. Many of our services will end with an invitation to pray at an altar or in your seat. Messages are sometimes delivered in series format. This means we are in a particular book of the Bible or are focusing on a particular theme. Other messages are individual and for a specific time in our church. Either way, the services of FBC are a place for spiritual feeding.
